one of Pennsylvania's fastest growing regions. Minorities
comprise approximately 48% of Allentown's population; 31% of
Bethlehem's population; and 29% of Easton's
population. |
About OMWOB
The
mission and purpose of the OMWOB is to increase the business
opportunities, successes, and long-term sustainability of minority and women-owned
businesses in our Lehigh Valley region, working with other partners to
further create family-sustaining jobs and prosperity in our diversified
Lehigh Valley social and economic communities.
Objectives
Pro-actively coordinate and leverage public and
private sectors resources that facilitate strategic alliances in support
of the mission.
Help to increase the number of start-up businesses
in the Lehigh Valley region and to assist in the retention and
sustainability of existing businesses.
Serve as a portal for
information of available services and act as an advocate to refer
entrepreneurs to necessary vendors, resources, etc.
Provide
fist-level support to prospective business owners, followed by referrals
to next appropriate agencies, resources and partners.
Assist in
strategic business planning.
Act as a consultant and mentor to
business owners.
Identify and cultivate relationships with Lehigh
Valley and statewide procurement officers and buyers, corporate and
business officials.
Help to create dynamic networking opportunities
with other businesses, entrepreneurs, partnerships, local and state
government officials.
